Salt Lake City, UT - Altitude Lab proudly announces Demo Day 2024 at the Ken Garff Scholarship Club at the University of Utah, showcasing the unique technologies developing within Utah’s burgeoning biotech community. Join us in celebrating the many milestones our residents have achieved while incubating at Altitude Lab. Scheduled for April 18th, we expect to host over 400 attendees, including entrepreneurs, investors, academics, students, clinicians, and industry leaders.
Since 2020, Altitude Lab has incubated over 24 companies tackling health care challenges such as Type-1 diabetes, the opioid crisis, and cancer treatment. This year, we are excited to share that in partnership with Recursion Pharmaceuticals, Altitude Lab has launched the Chris and Summer Gibson Founder Fellowship to empower graduates entering the startup landscape. Including a stipend, lab and office space, and expert mentorship, this fellowship aims to significantly reduce the costs of starting a biotech company and accelerating growth.
Demo Day 2024 represents the pinnacle of Altitude Lab's efforts in supporting founders to build biotech startups with the resources available in Utah. As a capstone event of their Startup Nitro program, Demo Day provides founders an invaluable platform to showcase their work while connecting with potential investors, partners, and customers.
Altitude Lab remains committed to fueling and launching startups while fostering community engagement and meaningful collaboration. With a primary goal of making entrepreneurship accessible, especially for first-time founders, Altitude Lab's recent achievements underscore its profound impact on Utah's biotech ecosystem. The increasing attendance at Demo Day, from 50 attendees four years ago to well over 400 projected for 2024, reflects the growing impact within the community.
In addition to growing attendance, Altitude Lab's portfolio companies and alumni, including Known Medicine (acquired by Pathos Inc.), Teiko Bio, Aumenta Bio, and Peel Therapeutics, have collectively secured over $120 million in funding since the organization's inception, driving transformative advancements in healthcare. Notable achievements by residents and alums, such as investments from BASF, Springtide Ventures, and the Utah Innovation Fund, acquisitions, and industry recognitions, further underscore the effectiveness of Altitude Lab's initiatives.
"We are truly energized by the vibrant startup scene we get to curate in Salt Lake City," says Chandana Haque, Executive Director of Altitude Lab. "Our efforts have led to significant investments in the past, and we cannot wait to share what lies ahead for innovation in Utah during Demo Day 2024."
